Scott Coleman, 72, of Creston, Iowa passed away at his home on Saturday, March 21, 2026. No services are planned at this time and was Scott’s wishes to be cremated.

Scott Robert Coleman as he is known today, was legally born Henry Bruce Stanberry on January 1, 1954 in Baytown, Texas. He was the son of John Max Stanberry and Betty Frances (Bruce) Stanberry. Bruce was raised in Greeley, Colorado and lived in various other places while growing up. In March 1971, Bruce joined the United States Navy, serving his country during the Vietnam War. Bruce was Honorably Discharged in December of 1974.

Upon his return to civilian life, he began driving a semi-truck, over the road, and continued this work throughout his working years. In November of 1976, Bruce legally changed his name to Scott Robert Coleman, named after his step-father. During his life, Scott was married several times and had one child, John Coleman.

Scott has lived the past 17 years in Creston and is survived by his son, John Coleman of Denver, Colorado; 3 grandchildren; and 3 sisters: Johnnie (Julio) Camacho of Creston, Iowa; Patricia Gersack of Lakeland, Florida; and Catherine Coleman also of Lakeland, Florida. Scott was preceded in death by his parents; his step-father; and a sister, Shanna Coleman.
