Terry Schieffer

Terry D. Schieffer, 67, of Ames, formerly of Creston, passed away October 31, 2023, in a cornfield during harvest, in Creston. Terry was born March 4, 1956, the fourth of seven children to Vincent and Delores (Schachtner) in Carroll, Iowa.  The family moved to Creston where he attended St. Malachy Catholic School and Creston High School.  He became the father to Catherine, Nicholas and Joseph.  On May 19, 1990, he married Julie Gill and embraced her three children, Ann, Patrick and Sean as his own. Terry worked many jobs including working as a farmhand, Wellman’s and Atlantic Bottling Company (Coca-Cola). Terry’s passion was farming and he spent the last years of his life sowing row crops and raising beef cattle until he retired.  Being with family, working the land, and spending time amongst his cattle were the cornerstones of his happiness.

He will lovingly be remembered by his wife of thirty-three years, Julie, and children, Catherine (Todd) Edsall of Bangkok, Thailand; Nicholas (Nikole) Schieffer of Ames; Joseph (Amanda) of Parker, CO; Ann Knudson of Ames; Patrick (Anne) O’Bryan of Ames and Sean (Lora) O'Bryan of West Des Moines, IA.  The grandchildren that were the light and delight of his life include Delaney, Cormac and Declan Edsall, Tillman Schieffer, Lewis, Ivy, Fiona and Henry Schieffer, Kamden and Lukas Knudson, Quinlan and Alec O’Bryan and Michael O’Bryan.  He is also survived by his brothers, Steve (Diane) Schieffer of Creston; Scott (Colleen) Schieffer of LaCrosse, WI; Mark (Alice) Schieffer of Maryville, MO;  sisters Jane (Kevin) Mahan of Creston and Jodi Mobley of Creston, sisters-in-law Debbie Schieffer of Waukee, IA; Carolyn Person of Sault Ste. Marie, MI and Jo (Rich) Roe of Rush, NY; many nieces and nephews and good friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Vince and Delores Schieffer and his brother, Tom Schieffer and brother-in-law, Tom Gill.

 Celebration of Life Service will be 1:00PM, December 17, 2023, at The Pantry Event Center, in Creston.
