Virginia B. Stearns

Virginia Belle Stearns, the daughter of Marion James and Genevieve May (Bell) Lund, was born on October 22, 1928, at Glendale, California. Virginia entered eternal rest, surrounded and loved by her family, on March 22, 2007, at the Israel Family Hospice House, Ames, Iowa, at the age of seventy-eight years, four months, and thirty days.
Virginia moved from California at age two to Massena, Iowa. Virginia attended country school in Cass County and graduated from Massena High School. Virginia married Harold Carlton Smith in 1946. He passed away in 1971. In May. 1974, Virginia married Bernard Duane Stearns in Creston, Iowa. She moved to Creston over thirty years ago. Virginia was a homemaker and also worked as a Ward Clerk at Greater Community Hospital for a few years. Virginia was affiliated with the United Methodist Church in Creston and was very family oriented. Virginia and Duane have lived in Ames the past nine years.
Left to mourn Virginias passing is her husband, Bernard Duane Stearns, Ames, IA; her children: Jerald (Cathy) Smith, Lawton, OK; Jerene Miller (Larry Tonnar), Grimes, IA; Jeanie (Stan) Gaer, Ankeny, IA; Joilen (Dennis) Poffenberger, Ames; her step-sons: Kenneth Stearns, El Paso, TX; Alan Stearns, Atlanta, GA; nine grandchildren: Donovan, Jona, Kara, Chadwick, Daniel, Lonny, Stephanie, Nathan and Alex; seven great-grandchildren: Bradley, Jason, Steven, Kaitlin, Kinlei, Dakota, and Dylan; two great-great grandchildren: Sophia and Vincent; her brothers: Ted Lund, Des Moines, IA; James Lund, Creston; her sister: Verneita Noe, Los Banos, CA; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Virginia in death were her parents, her first husband in 1971; two grandsons in infancy; her Brother-in-law: James Noe; and two Sisters-in-law: Janet Lund and Leota “Lee” Lund.
