Mike was born in Provo, Utah on December 23, 1943 to Walter E. and Geneva Catherine (Miller) Symonds. He attended St Francis Elementary School in Council Bluffs, Iowa; Creighton Prep High School and graduated from Creighton University in 1965 with a degree in Political Science. Mike entered the military in 1968 and received an honorable discharge in 1988 as a Major in the Army. His duties in the military required his service in many locations around the world. He spent much of his last 20 years in Washington, D.C. as an M.P. and as a consultant to the Department of Defense in the field of National Security. The military was his life. He enjoyed being involved in people’s lives and the simple pleasures of life. He was always ready for a good Husker football game and a Creighton basketball game. Since moving to Missouri to be closer to his brother he also became an avid KC Royals Fan. He also kept close tabs on the kids of those close to him and their accomplishments.
