Jud and I were saddened to hear about Stephanie, We had been thinking about her this past week and had decided to email her today (Sunday). Then, we received your call yesterday. In 1969 , through a friend, Jud and I were invited to Stephanie's house for an evening dinner. Stephanie pulled me aside and told me that I should hold-on to this one. I had been dating Jud for a short time.. Other invitations followed. These meals and the conversations were very much appreciated by us poor college students.. Stephanie also helped Jud's mother through the later stages of Alzheimer's in an Adair nursing home. We both loved Stephanie and her kindness. Tears, and the joy of having known her, are expressed to the family.

Steve was one of my wonderful Hethcote cousins. I have fond memories of playing on the Westlake farm with Steve, her sister Fran, and my other Iowa cousins when we were all young kids. I have a photo of 6 of us all riding their patient pony Prince. Steve and Terry were big University of Iowa Hawkeye basketball fans; I remember that they sometimes drove about 150 miles from Adair to see Hawkeye BB games in Iowa City when I gave them tickets. Steve was a warm, fun loving friend. I will miss her.

Oh the memories... you were one of the funniest people I knew. As a kid you were the fun one... the one we always enjoyed being with because of your boisterous personality. And together you and Hutch made life double fun. Always laughing, giving crap to my Dad, teasing the kids, and just enjoying life. You were there for me when Mom got sick, you answered my questions, gave me strength, guided me through how to best care for her. It was nice to visit with you when I came to Iowa year before last. Just you and I sitting in your kitchen drinking coffee and telling stories. You always made me feel like I mattered. I love you and will see you when the good Lord calls me home. Thank you for being you... RIP Love, Julie
